After many years of successful downoading OTR programs ('save link as'), I am suddenly getting 'failed' - I've tried rebooting, different programs, different targets - same 'failed' - any ideas?

i'm not able to duplicate the problem on osx. at this time yours is the only reprort of this issue.

i do not have an XP machine so i can test that. there is a possibility that because that OS is so old that is has issues with https which our site now is by default. you may need to change SSL setting in Tools > Internet Options > Advanced

a few questions:
1. when was the last time you successfully downloaded a file from archive.org?
2. have you tried other browsers?
3. have you tried to control-click from https://ia600200.us.archive.org/4/items/GUNSMOKE04/ ?

Just for the record, I'm using Windows XP Professional and Internet Explorer 8 (as old as dust), and have never had a problem with anything on The Archive, downloads or otherwise, so there doesn't seem to be any XP compatibility issues. (I barely noticed your switch to https.)

P.S. Thanks for all that you do, Mr. Kaplan.

Thanks!!

Problem solved - I had done 'flying re-boots' via 'restart' - now thought to let it shut down completely - and then start from 'off' - hoping to bypass possible artifacts

Worked -

But glad to get your 'security' tip - can come in useful otherwise

Really appreciate your grabbing hold of this
